ericans have come from the roots of Africa; whether it be from Egypt to Morocco. In ancient times Africans took pride in their ethnicity and honored themselves; and the others surrounding them. They took their culture very sternly and were strict on themselves as they were on their children. They keep up with their traditions and never missed a beat of their daily rituals. Having respect was their main value and if you respected them they openly responded the same way. The roots of a African never leaves an African American as they are now part of the United States. Being African American is being a American who is a descent from Africa. Here, in America, African Americans are way beyond the blood that runs through their veins. They are complete opposite of what their ancestors portrayed, and so far attached from their roots. Their focus is more on materialistic things versus the little things Africans cherish, like shoes.
Now, Modern African Americans are disrespectful and don't treat their peers with respect. They have pulled so far away from their natural orgin that its hard to believe that they are even connected. African Americans are blocked by themselves and what they got, they cant see their true identity of what they are, and how their elders lived. To be quite frank, they don't worry where they came from as long as they are living with high hopes of succeeding. There is no truth to why they simply don't care, but the controversal blame is that they try to be better then other races, so tapping into their natural habitat is not a option.
Being so out of tune with their birthplace, its hard to stay connected. Its also difficult to take pride in something you will never undergo. Staying focused on their nationality is the last thing on their mind while artificial things are top priority. In most cases, that also shouldn't be a excuse to totally dismiss the thought of their region. Having no thought at all on your roots is completely unacceptable.
No one really knows precisely why African Americans cant truly take pride in Africa as the birthplace of human civilization. Having no connection to Africa at all could possibly be the answer. It just like a average American trying to connect with the English. You can't live like them if haven't truly lived like them, or experienced all their experiences. Saying that an African Americans knows about the ups and downs of Africa and its region, is in most cases false.
I agree with you that African Americans should really take pride and really be proud to be and African American. Just because your not in African does not make you less of one.I think that some people think that just because some of there family members are not from african they are not considered black but at the end of the day all black people are considered African American and should take pride in where they came from.

ReplyDeleteBy reading this and better understand the true definitions we should have a better understanding that as an "African American" we owe our Ancestors to remember them and all they have done for us. If more people gave 1/16th chance to get to know their Past, Present, and future Africans; African Americans mentally and humanity would be so greater then we are. I'm not saying "oh we have to be proud", but we have to at least want to get to know them more.
For the IGNORANT (Lack of knowledge) People.
African americans are all gung ho about africa and "their people", when they are 75% African americans dont know the first thing about their family's history. It kills me to say alot of African Americans today DO NOT RESPECT,APPRECIATE AND HONOR THOU African Ancestors. Having Africa on your shirt, Celebrating Kwanzza doesn't count. Search your history, Talk to your PARENTS/ FRIENDS/ FAMILY about what you learn, learn from their mistakes & achievements, and apply that to your everyday life is what you should do.
Focus on improving, learning, and getting more skills from your ancestors. It's never to late to START! this question made me realize that i need to learn about my people both African and Indian Nationality as well. "Having knowledge about the past, sets up an easy FUTURE!"

I agree that African American should and do take pride in Africa.That is their nationality. Also the roots of a African never leaves an African American as they are now.All cultures should know about their nationallity even though they dont live in the country.
